Mail Class Options: First Class vs Standard
What First Class Mail gives you
Faster delivery. USPS states First Class letters typically arrive in 1 to 5 business days.
Forwarding and returns are included if the recipient has a change-of-address or the address is undeliverable. This is built into First Class.
Professional presentation. First Class in OLC is sent with a printed indicia or a Forever Stamp. Either is treated as First Class postage by USPS.

Best when: timing matters, the list quality is mixed, you need mail forwarded or returned, or the audience expects a more formal look.
What Standard Mail gives you
Lower postage designed for marketing campaigns.
Slower delivery with wider windows. USPS does not guarantee an in-home date and Marketing Mail is processed after First Class. Typical ranges are longer than First Class.
No forwarding or returns by default. USPS Marketing Mail is not forwarded and is not returned unless you use specific endorsements and pay related fees.
Best when: budget efficiency is the priority, the message is not time-sensitive, and you are sending larger promotional volumes.
How to choose quickly
I need it soon or I need it back if undeliverable → Choose First Class.
I am mailing a big promo and care more about cost than exact timing → Choose Standard.
